The Storefront Project

FREE Creative Writing Workshops and One-on-One Tutoring!

January's Theme: Performance Poetry instructed by MOsley WOtta

The Storefront Project is guided by NOW Programs Director Jamie Houghton, and inspired by David Eggers’ 826 Valencia concept in San Francisco, which is now in urban centers nationwide, NOW’s Storefront Project offers theme-based creative writing workshops and one-on-one tutoring on a drop-in basis at no charge on Monday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., with special programs offered on Saturday. In addition, field trips can be arranged whereby classrooms visit the Storefront during school hours for creative writing instruction. The meeting space is in The Nature of Words Literary Arts Center, 224 NW Oregon Avenue in downtown Bend (across the street from The Pine Tavern). To participate, students can drop in between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. on any Monday or Thursday for classes and between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m for language arts tutoring.

February Storefront welcomes Derek Sitter for drama workshops.
